Less screens

Computers, tablets, mobile phones – they are with us every day. Without them, we practically can’t imagine our life or contacts with others anymore. But that what on one hand was supposed to facilitate our lives, on the other - steals it from us at every turn. The figures are alarming - Canadian children spend about eight hours a day in front of the screen. Whether it is a computer or television, children spend about a third of their days on staring at the screen.

If you add to this 8 hours of sleep, and at least 6 hours spent at school, the day shrinks to just two hours, during which children do their homework, spend time with their parents and meet with friends.

This situation leads to difficulty in falling asleep, increased distraction, obesity and even abnormal development of the child, because it has no time for any creative and developing activities.

So what can be done? First of all we should get involved in the lives of our children. Let's start actively spend time with them, for example playing together or doing sports together. It is also recommended that children under two years of age should not spend time in front of screens at all. Let's be honest – that’s the best way we can teach children how to spend their free time. After being taught to be active, they will more seldom use the TV or computer.
