This week, several automakers have announced recalls for various vehicle models, citing issues ranging from braking defects to faulty headlamps. Affected vehicles span multiple manufacturers and years, with notices issued to ensure driver safety and compliance with regulations.

General Motors recalls

General Motors has issued recalls affecting over 270,000 vehicles. The first recall concerns a software issue that can prevent the low-beam headlamps from activating in dark conditions. This impacts several models, including those under the BrightDrop, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC brands. GM will notify owners by mail and advise them to visit a dealership for a software update to the body control module.

In a separate recall, GM announced an issue involving nearly 6,000 Chevrolet Equinox electric vehicles. A glitch in the brake control module software may prevent the vehicle from slowing down or stopping when cruise control detects the need to apply brakes. This issue affects certain all-wheel-drive 2025 models without the Super Cruise feature.

Tesla recalls

Tesla has recalled nearly 25,000 vehicles across its models 3, S, X, and Y from 2024 and 2025. The issue involves a software glitch that could cause the computer circuit board to short circuit, leading to a failure in displaying the rearview camera image. Tesla has resolved this issue with an over-the-air software update and will notify owners by email.

Kia recalls

Kia issued recalls for both the Niro EV and Sorento models, affecting over 9,600 vehicles. The Niro EV, produced between 2019 and 2022, faces a risk of water entering the integrated electronic brake (IEB) system, which may lead to corrosion and reduced braking performance. Kia will address this by applying silicone to the IEB bolt hole or replacing the system entirely.

Additionally, the Sorento models from 2024 to 2025, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, are affected by a software problem that may cause head and tail lamps to turn off unexpectedly. Kia will update the body domain control unit software for these vehicles.

Fiat Chrysler recalls

Fiat Chrysler has recalled nearly 20,000 Jeep Cherokee vehicles from the model years 2017 to 2019. The issue stems from improper installation of the power transfer unit (PTU), which may fail and result in a loss of power to the wheels. Additionally, affected vehicles may move while parked if the parking brake is not applied. This recall only affects vehicles equipped with a two-speed PTU. Fiat Chrysler will notify owners by mail.

Honda recalls

Honda has identified an issue with five Acura ZDX vehicles from the 2024 model year. Loose bolts securing the passenger-side front stabilizer bar bracket may lead to separation, potentially damaging high-voltage cables or battery coolant lines. This could result in a loss of power to the wheels. Honda will notify the small group of affected owners by mail and tighten the bolts where necessary.

Ensuring vehicle safety through timely recalls

Automakers continue to prioritize safety by issuing timely recalls to address critical performance issues. Affected owners are advised to respond promptly to recall notifications and follow manufacturer instructions for repairs. Regular updates and inspections remain essential in maintaining vehicle reliability and safety.
